NewsBoy's Cap

Thursday, December 27, 2012

So here's a brief history about this kind of Cap....

The newsboy cap or newsy cap is a casual-wear cap similar in style to the flat cap. Sometimes also referred to as the: Baker Boy, Apple Cap, Eight Panel, Cabbie, Jay Gatsby (from The Great Gatsby), Fisherman's Cap, Pageboy, Applejack Hat and Lundberg Stetson.

It has the same overall shape and stiff peak in front as a flat cap, but the body of the cap is rounder, sfuller, and paneled with a button on top, and often with a button attaching the front to the brim (as the flat cap sometimes has).

History

The style, very similar to a beret, was popular in Europe and the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries among both boys and adult men. As the name suggests, it is now associated with newspaper boys. This gives rise to a misunderstanding. It is true that many newspaper boys and other working boys wore flat caps along with other styles. This style was not, however, worn only by boys. Flat caps were very common for American and European men and boys of all classes during the early 20th century and were almost universal during the 1910s-20s, particularly among the working 'lower' classes. A great many photographs of the period show these caps worn not only by newsboys, but by dockworkers, high steel workers, shipwrights, farmers, beggars, costermongers, criminals, artisans, and tradesmen of many types. This is also well attested in films of this period and just after. While they were worn by boys and men of all social classes, they were worn by the 'upper' classes primarily for leisure activities, and the style became associated with well-to-do country sportsmen, drivers and wealthy golfers.
Resurgence

Although traditionally a men's cap, it has recently seen a resurgence as it has become popular with affluent women and fashion houses in the 2000s. It has also become popular among the hipster subculture, although fedoras are more common. Baker boy hats are now seen in many high street retailers. For summer, many girls and women are choosing soft cotton options as the brim offers sun protection. In winter, wool blend baker boy hats are a popular option for those who want to wear a natural material. In 2011, floral cottons are the current trend following a renewed interest in home sewing

So here's a closer look of the cap....

This cap was given by my beloved Aunt, as one of her present last christmas.

When I saw this one, em bit curious on what outfit matches this cap.

By the way, I'm not a fan of caps. I do rarely use a cap when I go out. It damages my HairStyle.

Hahaha!

So this would be the first time that I'll be using this cap...

while taking shots using it, I've noticed its CUTE!

Hahaha!

Cotton Tee’ Aramani Exchange

A Gift from my "BeeeeeeeP" hahaha! Its a bit long though but its a supper COMFORTABLE, LIGHT and Thin shirt.

Now I have the Guts on wearing this teee since I started to loose some "Fatties" and still working on the remaining ones.

Acid washed super skinny jeans

Most people appreciated it but here is a closer look of the design...

here's a closer look, it has some garter on the ankles to give a really consistent tight and fit look.

Some of skinny pants won't have garters like this, and with those jeans, in the long run they loose grip and they will look like a flower... that blooms on your ankles.

Hahaha! Pretty petty? Hahaha!

Luckily I have a thin legs but hairy ones.

Hahaha! GROWZ?!!!

With this jeans any type or color of top suites it.

Supper LOVe IT! Planning to buy one again.

Hihihi!

SNEAKERS from RED

A supper cute one, the design was like a patched up clothes. The colors were light and it did fit with the look.

* AccessorieS *

I chose light colors such as green, yellow, white, lavander, blue, brown and black.

No striking for my permanent accessories...

The colorful bracelets were bought at TOMATO. I add the green and pink bracelets to be paired up with the colors of my sunnies

The black leather bracelet was from SM Accessories.  I add this to mached up with the brown leather necklace.

The bullet necklace was from Rebel Gear, matched up with the light brown area of the cap.

And I added some circles; the black pearl necklace and bracelet.

Here's my striking colors; my sunnies.

These were given by my friend. Cute color though...

Light Green, Purple and Fushia...

If you noticed, I'm aways match up colors with my outfit. Just to balance and compensate things...

Hope you gain something on this look.

THANKS Guys!
